Jubilee Market, Kingston, Jamaica, circa 1900s. The London skyline as seen through my living room window an hour ago. Ahhh. Those were the days. When eating tamarind (tambrin den!) was the lick. The seeds, rolled in brown sugar, dried in the sun; or the flesh scraped off the seeds, soaked in waer with a little baking soda and sugar. All this was a young boy's idea of heaven. But this photo showing the remains of what was once a dozen tamarind pods was taken this year (2011). Gee, some things can't change...
